Assessment sessions
As with all sessions, we go at a pace to suit the young person, with visual aids and activities as needed.
We explore:
- The young person’s understanding of what is happening for them
- How they feel life is going overall
- Any areas they would like to be different
And cover key areas such as:
- Physical and mental health
- Daily routines (such as sleep, school, college)
- Important relationships
- Hobbies, interests, and strengths
- Any current or past risks to wellbeing and safety
- What the young person would like from support
Once assessment is complete, I review all the information and feedback to you to share my impression of the current needs and recommendations for next steps.
Goal-setting
If we move on to therapy sessions, I support clients to identify meaningful, functional goals.
These goals may include, for example:
- Regulating emotions and sensory overwhelm at school or college
- Increasing participation at education, work and/or volunteering
- Increasing participation in social activities
- Managing their energy and needs to find a sustainable balance in day to day activities
- Developing friendships and confidence in social situations
- Developing safer coping and regulation strategies
- Increasing
independence in daily routines (mornings, school or college work, self-care, sleep)
Therapy sessions
Sessions combine education, activities, practical 'experiments' (trying strategies between sessions) and reflection to build skills in areas such as:
- Exploring and understanding their sensory profile
- Developing sensory strategies for better regulation and greater access to what they want to do
- Understanding anxiety and stress cycles
- Linking thoughts, feelings, body responses, and responses
- Developing more flexible thinking and motivation
- Practising and embedding coping, regulation, and grounding strategies
- Understanding social dynamics
- Developing communication tools
- Advice around adapting environments and routines to support participation
- Building confidence and independence in everyday life
Reviews
We regularly review the progress of our work, every 6-12 sessions. Both the young person and their family is involved in the review, to make sure we're meeting everyone's needs, and the pace and content of work remains aligned with the young person's current priorities and goals.

Sessions can be delivered online or in-person. I currently use clinic space in Loddon and Norwich for in-person sessions, and you can see pictures of both below:
